Literacy & Rhetorical Studies Fellowship

In 2016 I received a Literacy and Rhetorical Studies fellowship to work on my dissertation, titled "Critical Community Literacy: Looking With Local Resistance." This community literacy project considers how events at a racial justice organization shape and are shaped by local members, policies, and elections. In examining these events, I show how critical community literacy contributes to and are shaped by mainstream social movements, with implications for scholars of race, rhetoric, and literacy studies.

I've presented portions of this work at the LRS Research Series, the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), the Rhetoric Society of America (RSA) Summer Institute, and the Conference on Community Writing (CCW).
